Vintage tone chameleon

From sparkling clean to vintage hot, the Ace is a full-tube amplifier that blends the character of the '59 Bassman and '62 JTM45. It responds dynamically to your playing and your guitar's volume knob, covering jazz and blues as well as pop and rock.

Designed to take pedals, the Ace works with boosts and fuzz pedals connected to its input. Distortion pedals are welcome too, along with phasers, flangers, tremolos and wahs.

Single-channel ease of use

The single-channel layout keeps your controls straightforward. Gain, or pre-gain, works with the master, or post-gain, to move from sparkling cleans into crunch. The ultra-wide gain range lets you shape the amount of drive without switching channels.

A two-button footswitch switches between Volume and Volume Boost and turns the effects loop on or off.

Voicing 1 clean character

Voicing 1 starts with a JTM-style clean sound: dynamic and three-dimensional, with an open, sparkling character, warmth and good definition. It responds to fuzz and boost pedals plugged into the input.

Past one o'clock on the gain control, the clean tone develops a sweet, organic edge of breakup. Around three o'clock, it gradually moves into sweet, subtle 3D crunch.

SVC volume control

SVC adds an extra total-volume control for each mode in the power section. You can play at 0.1 Watt bedroom levels or use the full 18 Watt or 50 Watt output of your chosen version.

At lower volumes, the sound retains its tone and sustain rather than thinning out. No power soak is needed.

Head and combo versions

The Ace comes as an 18 Watt head or combo, or a 50 Watt head or combo.

• 18 Watt output: 18 Watts R.M.S. with 2 x 6V6 power tubes.
• 50 Watt output: 50 Watts R.M.S. with 2 x EL34 power tubes.
• Combo speaker: 1 x Celestion G12M65 Creamback, rated at 65 Watt R.M.S.

Speaker outputs support 4, 8 or 16 Ohm connections, or 2 x 16 and 2 x 8 Ohm configurations.

Tube complement

The preamp uses 3 x 12AX7 tubes: V1 for the gain stage, V2 as the cathode follower and V4 as the phase splitter.

Construction and finish

Handmade from A to Z by Kool Amplification, the Ace uses 13-ply lightplex with Kool corner construction. The standard tolex finish is Black Rose. A custom color or tolex is available as an extra option on request.

Dimensions and weight

Head dimensions are H 25 cm x W 50.5 cm x D 25.2 cm. The 2024 ultra-compact combo measures H 43 cm x W 50.5 cm x D 25.2 cm.

Warranty and returns

The Ace amplifier warranty has no time limit and covers defects in materials and workmanship. Tubes are wear parts and are not covered. Speakers and footswitches have a 3-year warranty. Repairs and service are handled by Kool Amplification's own specialized team.
